Not sure what to say?

I think of you often with love, Brian.

Like some others, I didn't know about Brian's passing until several years after the fact and only saw this page today thanks to Jim Blalock's post. Like Ann and Peggy (and I'm sure Laura) I have fond memories of playing in a quintet with him, especially when we were invited to the Fischoff Competition. Brian was a kind and fascinating person. May he rest in peace.

I just found out today. He was one of the greatest people I ever knew. Changed my outlook on the world quite a bit. I keep plants all over the house today because of him. I don't love opera, but can enjoy it because of him. He was the first one I knew who made reeds...really well. Haggin Hall, Kirwin Tower, Vegetable House, playing UK Orch, Lex Phil, a joint recital and many many other concerts, roommates, friends...all day I've been thinking about how much effect he had on me.

I am so sorry I just found out about this. Brian was a good friend at UK. Rest easy old friend

Brian was such a good friend and pal to me. I have missed him so much and didn't know of his passing. Brian made bread.....this wonderful, delicious, pumpernickel bread. We laughed together, played music together, giggled together. I'll miss you Brian. All my love. Peggy.

Hey Buddy, still thinking about you a great deal during the day. I'm really going to frame that drawing of you. Promise. Valkerie kitty sleeps in the bed with me now. How weird is that? I miss you. Today is the fifth month since you died. The savings plan for moving to Portland is on track. Still haven't lost any weight. Still trying to get my painting skills started. Still missing you...sometimes the pain racks me into a ball in the corner and I just have to wait for it to pass. I try to...

Oh, Brian- I can't believe you're gone. I just found out tonight. Our Lexington Wind Quintet was one of the best experiences of my life. I'll always remember staying up with you all night making reeds. Ed will always remember you as one of the most gifted high school students he's ever had.
The world is much poorer without you.

Brian and I had a great time playing clarinet-oboe and clarinet-English horn duets in Lexington. As one might expect, the literature for these duets is limited, and rightly so. But it didn't stop us from trying, and occasionally sharing a game of chess afterward. I will remember the good times.

A large number of us who went through the UK Math Department as grad students wouldn't have coped nearly as well without Brian's help. I am thankful for the presence he was in our lives and am mourning his passing.
