Richard was a friend and colleague at The Cornell Sun. I was immediately struck by his fine intelligence, fine character, sense of humor, and caring nature. What a great person he was, so inspiring. I learned so much from Richard in so short a time. So sorry to hear about his passing.

We enjoyed our times together and HE will certainly be missed by all the lives he helped over several generations during...

We were very impressed by the web-based communication he had with his patients and friends when he was in Sloan-Kettering 10 years ago. His optimistic attitude despite difficult circumstances and physical condition were most admirable.

Rich was an important member of the community of specialists in internal medicine. I met Rich at a workshop sponsored by the Hepatitis B Foundation for primary care practitioners (PCPs). The purpose of the workshop was to develop guidelines for PCPs for the screening testing and management of hepatitis B virus infection. Rich had many excellent ideas and was a major contributor to the final recommendations and paper. All of us who met Rich will mill miss him. Our deepest condolences to...

My deepest sympathy to Rich's family -- what a great loss. He was a compassionate doctor, good listener, superb photographer, and just a decent, kind human being.
