Not sure what to say?

Another anniversary. How time marches on but I still on occasion think of Rick and those days long ago when we would argue over how to bring peace and justice to this world. These little holes in our heart are not so easily repaired, are they? But Rick lives on in our memories.

Dear Kay, this your cousin , Carmen, just heard of Rick's death through Mary Katherine. We visited in Baton Rouge last week during which I asked if they, she or Anne had an address for you. Mary K. Called tonight with this news. So sorry I will pray for you both. Please let me know your contact info. My email is cnichol965@ aol.com. Looking forward to hearing from you. Love to you all. Carmen

Dear Kay and family,

My prayers go out to you and your sons. My hope for you in the months ahead is to continue his work so that the essence of his spirit stays within your heart. He made change happen for those that didn't have a voice nor a platform for justice. My heart grieves with yours. My brother will be remembered for bringing a better life to so many that without his voice would have otherwise been taken advantage of in life.

It is indeed very sad news to hear of Rick's passing. I met Rick in 1978 when we both entered graduate school in Madison. We were then very close friends sharing the same ideals and ideas about social justice and moral responsibility. Over the years I took the easy path and continued on in school to receive my PhD but Rick took the difficult and more important path. While I teach about social justice Rick acted and did something about injustice. Rick was, in this regard, a change agent....

Kate, So sorry for your loss. You and your family have been in my prayers.

We are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. What a legacy, to have served with compassion and heart, making a difference in so many lives. See you soon. Peace...

Dear Kay,

High School . It was wonderful to see what he had done in his life for others , and that his values had remained strong .
