Dick was always my "go to guy" at Ridder family reunions or events. He was always smiling and so friendly to everyone. I remember his live, on-camera interviews over the years as a Wichita Fire Department spokesman on the scene of major fires in the area. He was very professional and articulate in the interviews. Dick painted our house in his off duty hours back in the 1970´s. I distinctly recall his cheerful attitude and constant whistling throughout the day as he worked. Dick loved sports...

As a Wichita Firefighter, both myself and my father Dolan Martin worked with Dick. My dad always asks about Ridder. Rest in peace.
