Not sure what to say?

Today is December 1, 2021. I came across the story of the tragic school fire at Our Lady of the Angels which occurred on this day in 1958. The archived photos I viewed broke my heart but the heroism of Captain Richard T. Scheidt, other firefighters, rescue workers, and many compassionate individuals lifted my heart. May God bless the Scheidt family and OLA survivors abundantly.

Captain Scheidt -
I was a friend of your son Mark all through high school. Knowing Mark I saw what a role model you were for him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Capt. Scheidt
Go in peace my comrade, your work on earth is done, with admiration. Your dedication to the fire service and the men you served with is an inspiration to all firefighters for generations to come.
Our thoughts and prayers to your family. Go in peace.

Dear Fran & Kids, God Bless you and keep you, our thoughts and prayers are with you. Uncle Dick will long be remembered and cherished. Certainly we shall see him again.

Captain Scheidt allowed me to ride on Engine 45 in the mid-70's. He knew my father, Lt. Bob Vrchota(CFD). He let me work with the engine crew and on working fires. All this gave me the experiences I couldn't have gotten anywhere else. It helped me throughout my 30+ years with Addison Fire Dept. He was a respected man. He will be dearly missed.

Our prayers go out to the family and Captain Dick Scheidt in this time of grief. Captain Schiedt has made a difference on this earth. He will be remember and always in my prayers. Thank you Captain Dick Scheidt.

Eugene McSweeney,my father in law, was a good friend. He sends his best and that Dick was a great man, great friend and a wonderful human being. He will miss him.

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.

When I think of Uncle Dick I always see his smile and hear his laugh. I know this is a hard time for all of you. I hope your wonderful memories will get you through the tough times. Everybody loved Uncle Dick so much. We will keep all of you in our prayers to get through this tough time. God Bless,
Love, Mary (Griswold), Steve, Hayley and Paige Rice
