Beloved husband for 43 years of Joanne E. Vinyard (nee Ruddy). Loving father of Rick Vinyard of Pryor, OK; Lindsay Greene (Larry) of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; Jim Vinyard (Kate) of Augusta, GA; Kathryn Vinyard of St. Simons Island, GA; and stepfather of Anne Shilt (Jeff), Wentzville, MO. Proud grandfather of Joe (Becki) Huml, Mat (Stephanie) Vinyard, Ben (Courtney) Vinyard, Rusty Shilt, James, Katlin and Maggie Vinyard, Annabelle Cochran and Joseph Greene. Great grandfather of Emma Grace and Mathew Vinyard; Madison, Avery and Elijah Huml; and Katie and Abby Vinyard.
Vinyard retired in 2012 as president of The Vinyard Group LLC, Consultants to Advertising Agencies. In 1971, Vinyard founded and operated Vinyard & Lee & Partners, Inc., a St. Louis advertising agency, for 16 years, until its sale. Previously, he had been in management positions with international advertising agencies, including D’Arcy/St. Louis-Los Angeles-Atlanta; Ted Bates & Co./New York; and DDB Cargill/Atlanta.
Vinyard was a past Chairman of the Missouri Council of the American Association of Advertising Agencies and a past Chairman of the St. Louis Mental Health Association. In 2020, he was inducted to the St. Louis Media Hall of Fame by the St. Louis Media History Foundation.
Vinyard was a Sergeant with GHQ Long Lines Signal Group, a unit of the U.S. Army in Korea, during the Korean War, Sept. 1950-Jan.1952. A native of Poplar Bluff, MO, Vinyard graduated from the University of Missouri/Columbia, with a BS-Bus. Admin. degree. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity at Mizzou and was active in the SAE Alumni Assoc. throughout his life.
Services: Memorial service at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 9 S.
