Not sure what to say?

I can't believe that it's been nine years now that you've been gone, Rich. You were one of the kindest, bravest, most caring spirits I've ever known, and you made the world a better place just by being in it. Your memory lives on in the hearts of all of us fortunate enough to have known you. Rest in peace, buddy.

Marni, Lou and Family:
Our deepest condolances to you for your loss. I remember meeting Rich in the 70's and foundly remember and enjoying his Looking Glass and Dr. Redbird restaurants. Although I knew him thru Mama Lou he always remembered me and was so kind to come over the our table and talk. What fun days those were. He was an extraordinary man, husband, friend and father and he fought a good battle. Now he can rest in peace. He had a very supportive family and caregivers who...

The faimiy of Richard Vliet: I am sorry to learn of Richard's passing. I knew Richard in junior high and in high school"class of 62" Wichita East. We later worked together at Sedgwick County Juvnile Court, mid sixties untile I moved away. Richard was always a great guy in all the years I knew him. May Christ's peace remain with you.

I have a lot of childhood memories that include the Vliet family. Ed, Marni and Billie I have thought of you often and I was sad to see Rich had passed away. It has been a long time and my mother and I send out our deepest sympathies.

I still remember Rich and Yuma down in the lower level of the old Phi Delt House dancing their fool heads off. What a great guy and always positive. Sorry, but I didn't realize Rich was in poor health as I now reside in SLC. My prayers go out to his family & friends. Woody Woodall.

Marni, you were my English teacher at Pleasant Valley Jr. High in 1972. You helped instill a love of reading and writing in me that I carry with me today.

I am so sorry to hear about your husband. You have my most sincere condolences.

Right after I moved to town in the early 70's I was working for the Kansas State Bank and a young fellow came into my office with a crazy idea for a new restaurant...Dr. Redbird's. What a fertile mind. It was fun to watch him work. Quite a guy. We'll miss him.

Rich was my fraternity brother and friend. When I returned to Wichita in 1971, after receiving my law degree, I moved into a downtown office and Rich and I saw each other on a regular basis; at the restaurants he owned or on the street. It was always a joy to run into Rich, spend some time reminiscing about our fraternity days or simply talk about the weather. What a guy! There was just something about the way Rich could shake your hand, put his other hand on your shoulder and say "How ya...

Thoughts and prayers for rich and his family.
Rich and I seemed to be in the hardware store at Douglas and Hillside several times a week. I'll miss the friendly conversations we had.
