Not sure what to say?

I very belatedly read of Richard's passing in the Trinity Reporter. I graduated a year ahead of him but I remember hanging out together particularly if music was involved. I wish we had stayed in touch as our lives seem to have quite a few parallels - music (especially bluegrass), coaching baseball and even a real estate career. I am sorry for your loss. He was a good man back then and apparently throughout his life. I hope his family and friends have good memories to fall back on.

Playing music with Richard, and later Derick, at festivals for decades has always been a highlight of the year. He was always the first I sought at Rockygrass, where this year I found out that what I have now are these cherished memories. I know he was just as special to many others and we are blessed to have had time with him.

I am grateful for the honor of Richard's friendship over the years. I appreciated his passion for music and pool shooting, and his love and pride for his beautiful, brilliant sons. What a great father, friend, philosopher, lover of life. My heart goes out to everyone who loved him.

He was also one mean trivia player. Such a great guy! Miss him so much!

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

Richard your smile and massive support for our community will be missed greatly. I will never forget the moment we met at Rockygrass over 20 years ago and you welcomed us with open arms. I raise my cup of coffee to you and will dance my next jig in your honor!

Richard was a beautiful human being and one of the most loving and devoted parents I have ever known. His support of his sons, especially Derek who is a dear friend and musical brother was truly exceptional. We played together many times and enjoyed long rambling discussions about music as well as running into each other at shows. I was lucky enough to have he, Derek and Jason as neighbors for a while and will miss him terribly whenever I´m home visiting. Long may you run my friend and thank...

Heartfelt condolences to Derek, Helen, Jason and the vast family of people Richard embraced during his time on the planet. His easy to talk to demeanor and inquisitive nature will be genuinely missed. Playing music, singing songs for young and old to join in was second nature for Richard. When other players got competitive, he could always be counted on to keep his sense of humor and remind folks not take it all so seriously. Life isn´t always perfect or easy. Richard faced life´s challenges...
