Robert Allen Obituary

Allen, Robert M., 87, of Tamarac, FL passed away April 5, 2012. He was born to Will Allen and Ida Mae Church in White Sulphur Springs, WV on October 28, 1924. Predeceased by his parents; daughter Barbara Gayle Allen; sisters Lucille, Rosalee, Mildred (Boots) and Marguerite; and several nieces and nephews. Survivors include wife of 65 years, Thelma Lamar Allen; daughter Sandra Ensworth (Bruce); brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jerry and Marlene Lamar; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob owned and operated Allen Construction Company in the Ft. Lauderdale area for 37 years. He was very proud of his service in US Navy during WWII. Attending reunions with his shipmates from USS Foss DE-59 created some of his most treasured memories. Bob was a devout Christian from early adulthood. A self-taught Bible scholar for many years, he decided later in life to pursue a college degree. At age 80, he received an Associates of Arts degree in Theology. He was awarded a Bachelors of Arts degree in Ministry at age 83. Bob's community service and life accomplishments are numerous. They include serving as President of Lakes of Carriage Hills Condominium Association; Big Brother of the Year in Broward County; Church Deacon. Children and young people gravitated toward him. He was instrumental in forming many of their lives. Bob loved his Savior, his family and friends. He was greatly loved and will be missed. We take comfort in knowing that we will be reunited with him in Heaven. Jennings Funeral Home (954-731-4321) in charge of arrangements.

I miss you, Daddy. There are so many things you taught me. Most importantly, I thank you for telling me about Jesus. I know you are with Him now-and that gives me comfort. I´m so glad I will be with you when my time comes. I sure do wish I could sit and talk with you. There are so many things I want to talk to you about. Hug Mother for me. I love you.

I love you, Daddy. Every time I see a butterfly, I am reminded that you are watching over me from your heavenly home. Everyone is commenting on how we have NEVER had as many butterflies as we have had this year. I tell them that's because you are sending me LOTS of little reminders. Miss you every day...
