Not sure what to say?

I am shocked to read of Bob's passing. I met Bob when I joined Baxter in 1972 and worked with him on quite a few projects. It was awe inspiring to work with someone at the center of changing the way fluids are administered to a patient by developing the flexible container (along with Dr Ralph Bellamy). But Bob became much more than a professional colleague to me when I came down with heart disease and he guided me to the appropriate care and watched over my recovery. And then , when my...

Dr. Ausman was an inspiring and motivated educator. He was one of the first and one of the most important physician mentors in my life. Dr. Ausman taught the human side of medicine.
When I asked him how I could ever show my gratitude for all that I learned from him, he told me I should educate students and give to others as he had taught me.
I remember him whenever I teach students and physicians to this day. I would not have become a physician without Dr. Ausman's guidance.

Dr. Ausman provided invaluable counseling to countless Baxter employees and their families over the years related to challenges associated with a cancer diagnosis. My mother-in-law was one of those who benefited from his knowledge, wisdom and controlled bedside manner. We will always be grateful for his willingness to get involved and will pray for him and his family.

We were shocked to learn of Bob's passing and offer our deepest condolences to Chris and family.

My sincere condolences. I worked with Bob for several years and was impressed by his intelligence and real interest in people. He was a true physician, who involved himself when someone needed help. I will always remember his kindness.

My condolencies to Chris & family. When I was based in Illinois, Bob & I would often meet in Deerfield & in the evening at the Weber Grill. There we would discuss new approaches to ambulatory cancer treatment. He would always provoke new ways of thinking & stimulate me & others to improve therapy for patients. I remember when he was awarded the Baxter Humanitarian award; he was always so supportive of any employees who needed help. RIP & thanks for all your support.

Although I had spoken to Dr. Ausman over years regarding patients, I did not have the opportunity to meet him in person until I served as the nurse at Baxter Corporate Headquarters.
Dr. Ausman was a kind and caring physician whom I trusted to always give me wise counsel. He could be counted on to share his expertise whenever requested for our employees.

Dr. Ausman was leading a class when we first met. Immediately I was impressed with his knowledge and the interest he had in the students. I later contacted him for some personal advice and he graciously provided his expert opinion. Dr. Ausman's personal influence toward those he worked with and with his patient's will live on in the memories of those he touched.

I first met Bob in 1976 as a 23 year old when he walked into the laboratory in which I spent most of my time doing my Ph.D. at the University of Manchester, U.K. He immediately made me feel important, offering encouragement and ideas for the future. Then he change the course of my life by helping me come to study in the US acting as a mentor in those initial years, and always having time to offer help ever since when needed. Thank you for everything, Bob.
