ALLENSTOWN – Robert H. Batchelder, age 75, died at his home Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Goffstown, son of Horace Batchelder and the late Anne (Chroniak) Batchelder. He was raised in Allenstown and was a graduate of Pembroke Academy.

After graduation, he was picked up by the Boston Red Sox as a pitcher for the Waterloo, Iowa, Hawks of the Class D Midwest League. Robert served in the U.S. Army, serving one year at Fort Sill, Okla., and one year in Korea.

Robert worked for Pembroke Boats, Calypso Yachts and Pequod Yachts in his earlier years. He worked at the Federal Building in Concord for many years as a grounds and maintenance worker. Robert retired in 2012 from the New Hampshire Supreme Court Administrative Office of the Courts after 20 years of service in grounds and maintenance.

Neighbors would often see Robert puttering around the yard. He enjoyed working in his flower gardens, watching and feeding the birds and squirrels, and he loved making trips to Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun and Oxford Casinos. He was an avid sports fan always rooting for his Boston Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife of 41 years, Marilyn (Kress) Batchelder; a daughter, Kristen Brien and her husband Dan of Allenstown; a grandson, Danny Brien of Allenstown; a great-granddaughter, Adrianna Brien; and aunts and cousins.

As per Robert's wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.

The Waters Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Not sure what to say?

To my cousin Bob,
I have many memories of us playing together as children in Suncook. We shared a love of the Red Sox and I remember when you started to play for them.
Rest in peace, Bob.

Your cousin Connie.

Deepest sympathy to the family. The strength from GOD can sustain you through this difficult time. May the loving memories you share with each other and friends bring you a measure of comfort.

So sad to hear about Bob passing. He was such a wonderful, friendly person. Really enjoyed working with at the Supreme Court. His smile will be long remember. Ken and Beth Collins

With my deepst sympathy. You were my bright spot at the AOC. What a wonderful man.

You have my deepest sympathy. May the God of loyal love comfort you and the family during your time of sorrow. Psalm 119:76

Bob made his mark on the world through his kind heart, his work ethic, his sense of humor, etc.. I could go on but just read the legacy that the folks who knew him have written about Bob. I am proud to have known Bob Batchelder and to have worked with him for the past 20 years. He was my friend and had no enemies and was the most loved man at the courthouse and The AOC Building.

I am confident you found another nice pool to float around in and are enjoying a wine cooler. You will be missed by all who worked with at the NH Supreme Court and AOC. Good speed Bob.

Bob could always brighten my day & make me laugh. I feel blessed to have known such a positive & energetic person.
