Bondy and I met at the Culver Military Academy Summer Woodcraft Camp in 1950. We were in the same unit, the Drum and Bugle Corps. He was a year ahead of me and graduated in '51. We met again in the fall of '52, when we both entered Culver Winter School as plebes. He was a member of the Black Horse Troop, and I was in the Infantry. I attended Culver Summers School (1950-51) and Culver Military Academy (1952-56) with Bob, a.k.a, Frenchy, a.k.a., Bondy. We were in the Drum and Bugle Corps of the Woodcraft Camp (Summer School). He was a drummer and I was a bugler. During two summers our paths crossed routinely. In the fall of 1952 we entered Winter School, Bob in the Troop (School of Horsemanship) and I in the Infantry (Company B). He was mounted and I was afoot.
