Not sure what to say?

I only met Bob once, on my way home to Atlanta , after visiting my sister in Baltimore. I stopped for a visit, and we had lunch together. Bob and I traded many emails about WW1stereoviews for several years. Bob sent me a digital copy of his stereoview collection, which was instrumental in turning me into an amature photo historian, specializing in WW1 stereoviews.

I am heartbroken to just hear of Bob's passing into eternal life. He was many things to me --- boss, leader, mentor and friend. He also attended my retirement from government service in 2021 - and I will miss him terribly. He was a giant of a man, combining selfless service to the Nation, incredible intellect and a passion to help others grow. We sipped many a scotch together as he passed on words of wit and wisdom. Sigrid - please do let me know when the service at Arlington will...

I am sorry to hear of Bob's passing. I got to know him by email, as we shared in interest in WW1 stereoviews. A few years ago, he gave me a box full of stereoviews and stereoscopes, I treasure that gift very much.

Bob, I will always remember your great hugs and your smile at church, St. Margaret´s on the Hill. I regret I didn´t take the convertible ride in your corvette while I had the chance. I had so much respect for you and I rejoice that you are with our Saviour, Jesus Christ, enjoying eternity with him. I will see you when I get there.

I so enjoyed and valued my time with Bob. We are Boyd cousins and shared a love for our ancestors and history at Boyds Mills. He researched and wrote about our Boyd ancestry and his articles live on into posterity. His generosity honors the Boyd legacy and "place" through the Highlights Foundation which holds its writers workshops at Boyds Mills. I will miss him greatly. Our condolences to all of his family and especially Chrissy.
