Mihovk-Rosenacker Funeral Home - Evendale/Blue Ash Obituary

Robert L. Doud, 94, passed away on July 5, 2019 at Bethesda North Hospital following a brief illness. Bob was born May 28, 1925 to Mervyn Doud and Lillian Mae Havlin Doud, and he grew up in Norwood, Ohio.  He enlisted in the Air Force after graduating from Norwood High School in 1943. Bob was a flight engineer on the B-24 during World War II and rose to the rank of technical sergeant and top turret gunner as a member of the 765th Bomb Squadron, 461st Bomb Group, 15th Army Air Force in Italy. He enjoyed many reunion trips with members of the battalion, including a tour of Cerignola, Italy in 1993.

He was devoted to his wife Eunice “Booka” Conover Doud. They met in kindergarten, and began dating after the war. They married on July 31, 1948. They raised two sons, Kim Doud (Janet) and Kerry Doud (Candy).

Bob graduated from the University of Cincinnati and was self-employed as an interior decorator, painter and expert wall-paper hanger. He was a talented artist.  During his later years he took up woodworking. He carved and hand-painted detailed birds and wildlife.  His family looked forward each Christmas to receiving his carved Santa Claus ornament gifts.  He enjoyed being tour guide on family vacations to National Parks. Bob and Booka enjoyed dancing.

Bob will be remembered as a quiet, courageous, and kind man, who loved his wife and his family, his many friends, and his country. He was a gracious and generous host, having served as the patriarch of a large and loving, extended family.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters Ellen and Mildred (Midge). In addition to his wife and sons, Bob is survived by his three grandchildren--Aaron Doud (Priska), Janel Mason (Patrick), and Kyle Doud, and three great-grandchildren--Luca Doud, Maria Mason, and Micah Mason. Bob was a loving uncle to his sisters' children--Terry, Taffy, Gayle, and his wife's nieces and nephews--the late Michael Sittason, the late Jeffrey “Foxy” Sittason (Soni), Judy Hagaman (John), Rosa Weaver, David Conover (Carol), Leslie Conover (Cathy), and Terri Conover, and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Bob served as a second father to his nieces Robin Sittason and Traci Sittason Stark (Paul) following the death of their father in 1972, and a second grandfather to his great-nieces and nephew--Eden, Savannah, and Hunter Sittason Stark.

A memorial service will be held for Bob on Sunday, July 28, at 2:30 pm at the Mihovk-Rosenacker Funeral Home at 10211 Plainfield Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45241, with the Reverend Paul Sittason Stark officiating.   The family will receive guests at a gathering at 1:30 pm and a catered reception will follow the service in the basement of Mihovk-Rosenacher. Interment will be at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, 10209 Plainfield Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45241, on Monday, July 29 at 10:00 am.

Not sure what to say?

I can never forget Bob. Every time I pick up a paint brush memories of my time working with Bob flood my mind. He taught me many things and always in a gentle manner, never criticizing just showing me a better way. I remember working in many very hot and humid Cincinnati summer days, “squaring up” about noontime, finding some shade, sitting down and having our sack lunches.
His wife Booka was the best-always smiling and remembering to fill Bob’s coffee jug and include a can of Pringles!...

Bobby was a very cool person and fun to be with. He was a Grill master and made the best Teriyaki chicken I’ve ever had.We would talk about vintage cars a lot. He was very proud of his Dodge Challenger. He was a very kind man and will be missed.

Bob Doud.... my boss and friend. Bob taught me how to paint and wall paper while working summers during my college years at University of Cincinnati. Some may say any one can paint well, maybe, but not the correct way and Im glad to have had the experience of working with Bob Doud, a genuine Prince of a man. A wonderful honorable, humble, gentle man missed by many. Ill never forget him. God, bless this man and until we meet again Ill think of you with every paint brush I pick up. Rest in...

Very sad to learn of Bob's passing. My sincerest sympathies to you Booka and all your family. We lost a very kind and gentle man. I will miss him.

In loving memory of a wonderful man and role model. We will love you and miss you always.
