Robert G. Drexler

Robert George Drexler of Delray Beach, passed away on July 28, 2013, at the age of 48. Bob was born on August 30, 1964, in Appleton, Wisconsin as the 8th of 12 children. Bob was quite the athlete, and loved playing basketball, football, and baseball. He played varsity basketball for Xavier Catholic High School, bringing his team to the state semifinals. He then attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he received his B.S. in Economics. He also met his wife Debbie at the UW. Oftentimes, Bob could be found reffing basketball games on the side. After graduation, Bob worked at Roadway for 8 years. He married Debbie on May 25, 1991. His first son, Arthur, was born on December 13, 1992. In 1995, Bob began working at Schneider in the logistics field. On March 18, 1995, his second son, Riley, was born, and on October 19, 1996 his daughter Chloe was born. In 1998, Bob received a job offer from Office Depot. After hearing the song "Taking Care of Business" on the radio, which was then the theme song for Office Depot, he decided to accept the offer. The Drexler family then moved to South Florida. Bob worked at Office Depot for 15 years in the transportation department. He was an active member of the community during his time in Delray Beach. Bob loved coaching his son's city league basketball teams, and was voted 'Coach of the Year' in 2005. He also brought his coaching passion to the Delray Blazers travel basketball team, where he ran practices and coached for several years. He also quickly became a fan of his daughter's lacrosse teams, and planned on becoming a coach. Bob was the world's biggest Packer fan, and claimed to be in attendance at the famous Ice Bowl. Bob was also an avid Scrabble player, loved doing the Wall Street Journal Crossword puzzles, and enjoyed solving his Mensa puzzle book problems. He also enjoyed playing and watching golf. He competed annually in the Jingle Bell Scramble and the Goblin Scramble, once finishing in 3rd place. He also loved fishing, frequenting the Sea Mist charter boat. Bob caught his legendary 50 pound Cobia on this boat. His favorite vacation spot was the Florida Keys, especially Islamorada. Bob was also quite the handyman, and could fix just about anything. He also enjoyed tending to his wide variety of fruit and vegetable plants in his garden. He was also secretly a pet lover, even though he didn't know it. Bob is predeceased by his mother Jackie and father Bob Sr. He is survived by his wife Debbie, his children Arthur, Riley, and Chloe, his 11 brothers and sisters, Julia (William) Zimpel, Mary (Jeff) Harts, Fred Drexler, Ellen (Joseph) Burton, Joseph (Nancy) Drexler, Anne (Mike) Graham, Kathleen (Guy) DeGroot, Margaret (WIlliam) Adams, Paul (Michelle) Drexler, John (Imelda) Drexler, Susan (Matt) Hurteau, 39 nieces and nephews, 7 grand nieces and nephews, mother-in-law Mary Yuhas, and his brothers-in-law Jon and Josh (Ildiko) Yuhas. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 1, 2013 from 7PM to 9PM at the Lorne & Sons Funeral Home, 745 NE 6th Ave., Delray Beach. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 2, 2013 10:30AM at Emmanuel Catholic Church, 15700 S. Military Trail, Delray Beach.
