Robert "Poppie" Eller

BYRAM -- Robert “Poppie� Eller, 93, of Byram, died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, May 21, 2014.

Born in Flemington, Robert lived in Fredon before moving to Byram seven years ago. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Robert loved to help people and animals, and his legacy of giving will never be forgotten. His livelihood was selling vacuums for Electrolux for 50 years before his retirement. He was a member of the Byram Seniors and Newton VFW Memorial Post 5360.

The son of the late Robert Francis Eller and Marion (Vanauken) Eller, Robert is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Florine Eller; his son, Kurt Eller and wife, Arlene Lippencott, of Byram; two of his greatest joys, Nicolas and Zachary Eller; his daughter, Debbie Kafura, of Binghamton, N.Y.; his son, Harry Eller, of Lynchburg, Va.; Robert Eller, of Trumansburg, N.Y.; his daughter-in-law, Kelly Eller; and a total of 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many loving friends.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton. Interment will follow in Yellow Frame Cemetery. Visitation will be held today, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.
