Dear Judy, Joan and family:

I remember uncle Bob the day he put his family in his car and left OH for AZ. I cried for hours. I was six years old. My family looked forward to their return, about every six years, when we would get to be with them again.

After graduation from high school my sister and I took the train out to visit. That was quite the trip. I still have many photo of all the sight seeing he and aunt Pearl took us on.

Judy, Jo Ann and families: You have my deepest sympathy. Uncle Bob was the kindest, most gentle person I have ever met. I loved to listen to him talk, tell and read his stories. He and Elizabeth came to our home in Oak Harbor and stayed several days. They were in love and it was a joy to see Uncle Bob so happy. I was fortunate to get to spend a week fishing with Uncle Bob on the French River with my dad, brothers and Clem. We had such a good time - he loved to fish and tell stories. ...

One of my greatest memories was when he came "home" to Ohio and took a shovel and proceeded to dig a hole near one of the barns. Being curious, I walked over and asked him why he was digging a hole. He told me that years ago he had lost a watch near this spot and hoped to find it. I watched as he took two more shovels of dirt from the hole and there it was! A watch, somehow surviving years of being buried, and still ticking! I was young...

To the Robert Ewing family, I hope Uncle Bob likes playing cribbage, because I think my dad, Guy Ewing, will be there to greet him into the hereafter, with a cribbage board,a pack of cards and a big smile!
