Dear Judy, Joan and family:
I remember uncle Bob the day he put his family in his car and left OH for AZ. I cried for hours. I was six years old. My family looked forward to their return, about every six years, when we would get to be with them again.
After graduation from high school my sister and I took the train out to visit. That was quite the trip. I still have many photo of all the sight seeing he and aunt Pearl took us on.
In the 80's my husband, Jim and I drove out west and stopped to visit aunt Pearl and uncle Bob. Their centuary plant had died just as it was ready to bloom for the first time. I felt so sad as uncle Bob was telling about the plant and then seeing it lay there on the ground. He got a chain saw and cut it into fire wood while we were there. As we were leaving to go on west and through the desert, he made sure we had jugs of water, in case our van needed extra water, and several other safety points to make sure we would make it. As Ohio residents we didn't know much about deserts. They made us always feel so welcome and valued family members.
My daughter, Melinda and I, went to New York when Geoff and Lyrsa got married and uncle Bob and Elizabeth roomed near the place we had rented so we shared car service through the city several times. Uncle Bob was full of historic times and information about the Bailey farm and his interaction with my dad Carl Bailey and the insurance office that grandpa had. He was so happy that wedding weekend to be with so many family.
More recently, I have visited at Judy and Dave's in Phoenix and got to be with him in his retirement apartment. The last time we hugged and said good bye, Judy and I noticed tears in his eyes. We felt that he knew his time was nearing and we may not see each other until in the hereafter.
Uncle Bob was an entertaining personality and enjoyed people. He will be missed.
With love and fond memories,

Dear Judy and Joann, Sorry for the loss of Bob. Glad we were able to share in celebrating his birthday one year. His stories from the past were the best. There was also the music evening that he really got into it. Joan & Ken

Judy, Jo Ann and families: You have my deepest sympathy. Uncle Bob was the kindest, most gentle person I have ever met. I loved to listen to him talk, tell and read his stories. He and Elizabeth came to our home in Oak Harbor and stayed several days. They were in love and it was a joy to see Uncle Bob so happy. I was fortunate to get to spend a week fishing with Uncle Bob on the French River with my dad, brothers and Clem. We had such a good time - he loved to fish and tell stories. It was a joy to have been able to cook his meals for a week. His visits to Ohio were always such great times - I will miss him always.

Uncle Bob will be missed by all who knew him.
One of my greatest memories was when he came "home" to Ohio and took a shovel and proceeded to dig a hole near one of the barns. Being curious, I walked over and asked him why he was digging a hole. He told me that years ago he had lost a watch near this spot and hoped to find it. I watched as he took two more shovels of dirt from the hole and there it was! A watch, somehow surviving years of being buried, and still ticking! I was young enough to believe his story, but after several minutes, he confessed that he was just having some fun with me.
I visited in 1970 after HS graduation. He was a great realtor and auctioneer. Tedi and I were fortunate to visit Aunt Pearl and Uncle Bob in later years and were graciously treated to personal tours of the Tuscon area.
He lives on in each of us he has touched.

To the Robert Ewing family, I hope Uncle Bob likes playing cribbage, because I think my dad, Guy Ewing, will be there to greet him into the hereafter, with a cribbage board,a pack of cards and a big smile! Dad loved his relatives and I know he'd be wanting to hug and kiss everyone and give them his condolences.
I don't remember Uncle Bob, but I remember being very young and visiting the old family farm, running around outside with cousins and looking at cats. I also remember a time when I was a little older that we visited cousins in Ohio who were building a new house - and just the basement foundation was done so far! I thought it was really cool to live in a basement! I also discovered that home-grown Ohio lima beans cooked to perfection with real butter are heavenly. Remember them after all these years. I'd love to hear other people's family farm memories.
I would have loved to know Uncle Bob and hear his stories. Blessings to all of you and know the Wisconsin Ewings send our love and support in your grieving time.

Dear Judy, Joann, & Family,
God has a new Angel, who was a precious part of the Ewing Family on Earth. You who have cared for Dad, Grandpa, or Bob now have a guardian angel caring & watching over you. Thank you so much!
Uncle Bob gave me so much joy, love, & wonderful memories which I cherish & will continue to share during my walk through life. My memories include: The excitement when Uncle Bob, Aunt Pearl, Judy, & Joan visited us on our Ohio farm as a kid; Visiting Arizona upon high school graduation, catching trout with him in the White Mountains, & bringing them home to Aunt Pearl( a great cook), who didn't know how to fix trout because Uncle Bob had never brought fish home before; Hearing wonderful stories of Ewing family & farm life, many Grandpa Roy stories including courting Grandma Edith in a horse carriage; Hearing stories of Arizona family life & adventures as a Singer sewing machine salesman & repairman while fishing in Canada; Enjoying Easter, the beach, a Lipizzaner horse show, etc. during visits to Bob & Elizabeth in Bradenton, Florida with Maryann & (little) Matthew, while living in Charleston, SC; memorable visits with Uncle Bob & family in Phoenix & Sacramento the last 5 years including: taking Him to the World Baseball Classic(USA vs. Mexico) with Matthew, enjoying a day trip to the red rocks of Sedona with Him & Larysa, & playing harmonica & entertaining family at Joan's.
I miss Him so much, but am so grateful for the long time he blessed my life. I celebrate & honor Robert W. Ewing!
With deep love & gratitude,
Jimmy

To Judy, Joan and family,
Uncle Bob was a joy to spend time with. He taught me how to play euchre and showed Jim, Matthew and me a wonderful time in Florida. Aunt Elizabeth loved to be with Matthew and
share Easter with him.
I cherished the stories about the farm.. He gave me a better understanding of my own husband Jim's past and the richness of their life in
Ohio.
One of the stories I enjoyed was hearing about how he would cut the hay and put it into stacks then throw that up to the hay loft. Explained that the horses would pull the wagon which fascinated me. I always traveled back in time when he told his stories.
One time we visited with Uncle Bob at Joan's and he played the harmonica. Matthew was mesmerized by him and his
harmonica. The video that Joan has of this is so precious. It will be a cherished gift of Uncle Bob. I only hope that Matthew will have a little bit of the country gentleman in him.
One time we got to go up on the hill behind the farm and stand at the old oak tree and I cried thinking of all the wonderful life that the Ewing family had had there and that it was gone. I will miss him and the richness that he brought to my life.
With much love

To the Robert Ewing Family:
I will always cherish the memories that I have of Uncle Bob. Growing up I did not get the chance to spend much time with him because of him living in Arizona. I remember the vacation that my family took to see him and Aunt Pearl in Tucson. We had a wonderful time with him showing us all around. I also had the opportunity to go with him to Canada fishing and I remember all the great stories he shared with us about him growing up with my dad and my grandparents. I know my parents really enjoyed him staying the summer with them. It really helped my mom with him being there after my dad had passed away. I will truely miss this man. Sincerely Clem Ewing, son of John and Margaret Ewing
