Robert Ewing Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Palm Royale Funeral Home & Cemetery on Mar. 13, 2026.
Robert Emmett Ewing (July 21, 1935 - February 25, 2026), 90, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, with his loving family by his side.

He was born in South Bend, Indiana, on July 21, 1935, to the late James Emmett and Anna (Lappe) Ewing. At the age of 18, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Division Artillery in Germany before receiving an honorable discharge. After returning to South Bend to support and care for his parents, he joined the VFW as a lifetime member. He stayed connected to many fellow military members and their families.

Bob began working at Allied Products in 1964 and became Production Manager. The plant was later known as EWI Stamping, where he remained until his retirement in 1997.

On November 10, 1973, he married JoAnne Kinzie at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Notre Dame, Indiana.

After relocating to Naples, Florida, in August 1998, he was employed and retired from Arthrex, Inc.

Bob was a kind soul and will be missed by all whose lives he touched.

Robert is survived by the love of his life, his wife, JoAnne, his treasured daughter, Jodi Marie, and his son-in-law, Andrew Westhafer. He is also survived by Henrietta Ewing (sister-in-law) and Ronald Kinzie (brother-in-law), and many nieces and nephews.

As the youngest member of a very large Catholic family, he was also preceded in death by:

Brothers: James and William Ewing

Sisters: Lorraine Kelly, Annabelle (William) Heiden, Mary Jane (John) Kalal, Betty (Joseph) Klebosits, Dorothy (Lewis) Haney, Doris Ewing, Helen Lovette, and Geraldine (Robert) Struever

Father-in-law, mother-in-law, Paul and Mary Kinzie, Brother-in-law, sister-in-law, James and Roann Kinzie

The celebration of life for Robert E. Ewing will be on Monday, March 23, 2026, with a visitation from 10:00 am to noon at Palm Royale Funeral Home. A Mass will follow at 1:00 pm at Saint Agnes Catholic Church Chapel. Following the services, a burial with a Military Honor Guard will take place at Palm Royal Gardens.
