To Bob & His Family: We are so sad at this time. We remember you Bob as a fun loving person with a great big
smile and a equally big heart. When Alice and I got married in
the summer of 1965...there is a picture of you holding a couple of flower bouquets in jest with my grandmother smiling looking on. We had a lot of good times together and that is what I want to remember. That was 46 years ago and I wish you could still be with us to recall those days together. Somehow I know that you are doing ok in this afterlife and one day we will meet again. Our hearts go
out to you and your loved ones. Rest in Peace my friend.

All of our love! Bill & Alice Mahan

Dear Bob,
I miss you. I've missed you for many years now. This is a letter to you explaining why I miss you so much.
My first memory was our family visit to Atlanta when we were kids. You gave me my first ride on a motor bike and I still remember the thrill. We all climbed Stone Mountain as you patiently waited for your Florida flatland family to see their first mountain.
Next I remember a St.Petersburg Beach where Carolyn and I were caught in an under tow current while trying to swim to Mexico. You and Sandford swam out to save us. My tall, handsome, strong cousins to the rescue. As we made it to shore we saw a helicopter searching for us and you and I wanted to go back out and be picked up by the helicopter. Too bad our mothers were there.
My next memories are i963 when I was teaching in Atlanta and we became the very best of friends. We did everything together, usually with Alice,Marie and Bill.Sometimes there were others in our group but always the 5 of us.You were our strong leader and we followed where, when and however you led us. Always fun, sometimes quiet, other times not so quiet but always exciting. All the girls in Emory Gardens wanted to meet my handsome, fun loving cousin. My college boyfriend was very jealous of you even though he was welcome to join us.
Bob, you Marie and I applied for the newly established Peace Corps. You and Marie had so much to offer; both grew up on farms, you knew a great deal about building, digging wells and she ran a blood bank at a large hospital. I had no skills to offer a newly developing country.
Sargent Shriver actually called me the same day Delta invited me to attend their training class. Because I could not believe the Peace Corps wanted me with no skills instead of you and Marie with so many much needed skills and because we all three wanted to go together, stewardess school looked good.
Flying for Delta was great and often when I had time in Atlanta you would meet my flight and we were back to our group. The last time I remember all of us together was Alice and Bill's wedding. Marie and I were brides maids and you were even more good looking in a tux.
Next I remember you driving your new T-bird convertible to visit me in Cape Canaveral. You took me flying. I had many hours of flying time but never had the nerve to solo. You had only a few lessons and then off into the bright blue sky.
Bob, do you remember our trip to Ensenada? Then we drove my huge, old yellow convertible better known as the Banana. We really wanted to drive all the way down to explore the peninsula but we didn't have time.
I love you Bob. You were so strong. not just physically but morally and spiritually. We were connected more by our love for adventure than our family ties.
Bon voyage dear friend, Midge

Bob was one of a kind and known by many for his "never met a stranger" attitude. He will be missed. I worked with Bob for a number of years and enjoyed his tales. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Bob was such a fine person, and a Great brother. (Everyone who knew Bob liked him!) Losing Bob was such a HUGE Loss. I loved him very much, and I was very proud of him. As children we had So many good times, fishing on the creek at our farm at Stone Mountain, building a dam across the creek, riding the horse. Also working hard--we picked Blackberries to make money, sold watermelons, and We made a lot of money for little kids! So many good times. He was a pal to Jason, and he was very proud of Jason! I was so impressed that their relationship was more like best friends than father and son. Janice and Bob travelled to many places and he enjoyed seeing the world.
I remember a conversation in recent years when Bob said to me 'Just do the right thing.' I don't remember what we were discussing, but I will keep that as Bob's good advice on how to live. And this Is the way Bob lived.
May he rest in Peace, May his Spirit soar! Thank you God for the Blessing he was. Love, John Sanford Foy

With the dawn, I find you still dead, my dear brother, only in body.
Bob was an expert bareback horse rider by the age of fourteen, he also skied barefoot, was a certified scuba diver, Red Cross certified lifesaver and in general lover of life, his nieces called him a fun uncle, his nephews "a friend".

Bob loved animals. My dog Max knew bob was the best.

What a wonderful brother Bob was! Often Bob told the story of how I teethed on his chin when I was one, because his assignment, as an older brother, was to carry me around. Later he drove the boat while my brother Gordon and I were on the knee board behind the boat at Lake Berkley, north of Atlanta. He was there to encourage me when I went to college and visited me at college often to see that I graduated. I cherish the recent time he visited me in Kansas.
I shall always have a special spot in my heart for my brother Bob.
With warm thoughts,
Martha Hilley
