I still can't believe that this friend has gone. His humor, wit, and that Irish "twinkle" memory always returns when I think of him. Now, I think of an old adage that I believe applies to this man: " he says what he means, and means what he says". As before, I enjoyed having him as a friend at Texaco and serving with him in the Marine Corps Reserve.... His ilk are fading fast from these times today. Wish we had more like this man. I envy his family for have their longer time with him ..... Semper Fi, old friend.

Bob was a good friend and we were friends for a long time.
We met in the late 1960's and we were both interested in collecting militaria. Bob was an expert, and willingly shared his expertise. We traveled together, shared tables at collector shows and visited each other for all those years. I welcomed him to my home, and I always felt
welcome in his.
I will miss him.

I having chosen to identify as a student, as I consider Bob as much a mentor as a friend. Above all else he was a fellow Marine who I have known for most of my entire career. Despite serving generations apart, Bob was an influence throughout. As a young Lance Corporal, when I wondered if I could measure up, Bob was there with sage advice to help ensure I stayed the course. When I returned from an unpopular war, Bob was there to say well done. When I was entrusted to lead Marines in another war, Bob was there with to share his wisdom. Bob was often more enthusiastic for my own milestones than I, and he epitomized both our core values, and our belief in once a Marine, always a Marine. And I know he's up there, swapping sea stories with the legends of our Corps.

What a life this old friend led. I worked with Bob for many years at Texaco and remember many of his amazing stories. Could always ask his opinion/advice and he was open and honest about what he said. No one knew how to tell a story like Bob. I was also in the Marine Corps Reserve unit with him. He did love the Corps.. He will be missed.. SEMPER FI ! ... my friend.

Dear Eileen Barbara and Marianne...I'm really sorry to hear of Bob's untimely death from pancreatic cancer.
In our youth we corresponded frequently but sadly it lapsed.
We had a wonderful evening in London about 30 years ago with Auntie Bridget (your Granny's sister) when we swapped plenty of family news and Bob and Bridget swapped yarns and memorabilia of WW11.
May he rest in peace.
