To Bob's children,
I received a phone call this afternoon from a friend of mine in Florida who saw Bob's obituary in the Shreveport Times. I was sad to hear of your Dad's recent passing. I knew your Dad when he was stationed at Barksdale AFB as he and my ex-husband, James Kappus, were best friends at Barksdale and Bob was Jim's best man at our wedding in October 1968. My condolences to Robert's family. He was in our class in New Salem, ND when his dad was the policeman here. Our class talked often about him and always wondered where he was. He lived just down the street from me. I loved his sense of humor. I want to thank his sister, Laura, for letting me know about him. God's blessings to his family.

I am so glad that he was able to live closer to them and spend precious time with them, I know that made him very...
