Not sure what to say?

Dear Lynda, Timothy, Elizabeth and Michael,
We just learned of Bob's death today (12/13) through our son, Tim. You have been very dear friends and we are saddened by your loss. We remember Bob as a wonderful, kind and devoted human being, and a very special friend. We would like to talk with you and will try to find your phone number. Our prayers, thoughts and affection are with you,

I am a convert to the Catholic faith, and Bob was one of the main people to guide me through this conversion. I will be forever grateful for the kindness he showed me during RCIA at Our Lady of Loudes, 1998-99. I was sorry to learn of his death today, but I know he is in heaven, in fullness with Christ our Lord. May God bless Bob's family during their time of sorrow.
Rhonda Sutton, Ph.D.

On behalf of the NCSU Libraries, I extend our deepest sympathy to the family. So many of us got to know Bob through his use of and support for the library. We saw that he was a great human being and a teacher loved by his students.

We and I will miss him dearly.

Susan Nutter
Vice Provost and Director of Libraries

Dear Lynda and Family:

Bob was a dear and faithful friend who taught me a great deal about perseverance in this life and the spiritual life. He navigated through his recent set backs by living out the Faith more vigorously and thereby helping others to grow in their faith. His attitude of gratitude and joy was always inspiring and something to aspire to. It gives me great joy to think of him resting in the bosom of his best friend and Lord, Jesus, asking all his questions that...

I befriended Bob within the last two years periodically seeing him at daily Mass, Sunday Mass and events at OLL. What an inspiration he was exemplifiying dignity in the face of suffering, knowlgeable yet humble in sharing Truths of the Catholic faith and always remembering Jesus and Mary, Our Holy Mother, Saints and Angels. Eternal rest grant unto Bob O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon Bob. Through the Mercy of God may Bob rest in peace. Amen.

We have very fond memories of Bob. May his soul and the souls of
all the faithful departed rest in peace.
The In His Name Family

Dr. Hambourger was an impressive scholar who was willing to minister to "the least of these" at Polk Correctional Institution. I will miss his kind demeanor and wealth of knowledge. May God's presence comfort all who loved him.

Bob and I first met when I came to Our Lady of Lourdes in late April of 2009. He would always take time to say hello and chat with me. His cheerfulness was contagious. I was unaware of the challenges he faced as he never spoke of them. Bob was truly a man of great strength -- exceeded only by his gentleness. Now he is surrounded by "... the gentleness and clemency of Christ." 2 Corinthians 10:1

I am so sorry to hear of Bob's death. We miss his warm smile and welcoming personality around the department. I know he is now at peace enjoying the fullness of life with the Lord he served so faithfully. Michael Marnell, NCSU Dept. of Philosophy
