MARINO--Robert A., passed away on the December 21st winter solstice, which is a celebration of being "born again"--not of flesh, but of the spirit. He courageously fought brain cancer for 18 months, remaining eloquent, dignified, gracious and flirtatious, until the very end. Despite a difficult...

Not sure what to say?

Another year without Bob. He was such an amazing human being, so compassionate about rescue animals and spreading the word about adopting them. We miss his incredible energy and love. I know he would have loved our beautiful German Shepherd rescue girl who turned 2 in July. Wishing all Bob's family and friends a Merry Christmas and a healthy and Happy New Year.

God, how I miss Bob. His intelligence, his wit, his kindness; how we'd call each other for no particular reason and just talk about nothing in particular and laugh. Damn.

Thinking of Bob on the anniversary of his death. It's sad thinking he is not with us. He accomplished so much in his life, especially uniting so many of us animal lovers and impressing upon not only us but others about how important it is to adopt animals. It is incumbent upon us to spread the word about adopting rescues. He would be so happy to know that we adopted a rescue pup in February. She is the love of our lives. Rest in Peace Bob. Miss your smile and larger than life...

We think about Bob often. He was instrumental in keeping animal rights at the forefront of every conversation. I wish he was still with us to see how many new animal advocacy groups have been established and the work they are doing. I think he would be so proud and happy seeing so many animals rescued into loving homes. We wish Mary, his family and friends a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

I will never forget Robert His generosity to helping me with the StNicholas Park Dog Run in my Harlem was priceless His energy his clarity gave me the strength and help needed What a beautiful soul and mind We all were so lucky,to have met him and work with him.

We miss Bob and his wonderful personality. I'm sure we would have had some interesting conversations about the past four years! Bob was such a strong voice and advocate for animals. It is incumbent upon all of his friends to continue his legacy of animal welfare. We send our love to Mary and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a healthy, happy and peaceful New Year.

Bob was an incredible person and I will miss him

Another lovely gathering held in your honor yesterday at your cousin's NYC home. Your sister, Mary gave a wonderful eulogy and we all felt your presence. Miss you terribly, Bob. xoxo

Bob, we miss you, your smile and your great personality. You were such a compassionate and beautiful man. I know you have so many furry friends keeping you company in heaven. Love you.
