Not sure what to say?

To The MAYHUE Family: My deepest SYMPATHY on your lost of a loved one, knew darrell thru his mother working with my mother in a dress factory, may he R.I.P. my friend.

I was totally shocked to hear of Darrell's passing. We go back a long time. We've had Good times, Bad times, and Crazy times. ( Mostly Crazy times! ) And I'll never forget any of it ! Nobody could pound the drums harder than Darrell, especially his "Crash Cymbal"! (thanks for the hearing loss bruh!) Now you can hook up with "Choo Choo" in Rock'n' Roll Heaven and get a Jam goin! Thanks for the memories! ...

Dear Louise and the Mayhue family. So sorry to hear that Darrell has passed away. He was my neighbor, my Harley riding buddy, my client, but most of ALL he was my friend. I remember all the times my brother Lou and best friend Mike Dogal went to see Redeye play, Tipper, Nedber, and Darrell at the Hearthstone Pub, Foothills, Broadway Tavern, Kilgore Trout and
many many other venues. Hotel Sterling New Years Eve bash!! What times and memories we have to cherish. Rest in Peace my dear Friend....

1976 Redeye

I first jammed with Darrell in the early 70's. I have to say that he was such an intense drummer he scared me a bit. It didn't take long and we just clicked. Over the years we played hundreds of shows and had countless adventures. Most of which were Darrell's ideas with me tagging along. Like in the winter when he would pick me up in the middle of the night in his VW beetle and we would drive to Elk mountain to get there before the workers so he could drive halfway up the slope and park...

Back in the day listening to really great live music is what we all did. We met Darrell in the early 70's. Watching him on stage was always a treat. He was a powerhouse drummer who broke more cymbals than sticks!
Whenever we hear a Skynyrd tune we will always think of Darrell.
We will miss him.

Sending much hugs to Louise ♥

Darrell had a kind heart, rest in peace..

I remember Darrell from the "Redeye" days. Still have a picture of him sitting in my race car at Kirby Park. He was truly a free spirit in the very best meaning of the term.
"'Cause they've got to ride forever on that range up in the sky
On Harleys snorting fire
As they ride on hear their cry"
Happy trails, Darrell.

Goodbye old buddy.
