Read MoreMy condolences to the McCarthy family. He will be greatly missed. I had the pleasure of working with “Mac” at The Winsted Evening Citizen newspaper back in the 1970's. We used to tease him by calling him “Lou Grant”. He loved it.

I was born and raised in Winsted and I do recall that Bob was a true gentleman. I have fond memories of watching him play basketball at the YMCA with Jim Davidson, Jack Doherty and Lenny Collins. Good athlete.
Bob was also a close friend of my deceased bother-in-law, Gene Scalise.
