Among his many interests Mac loved the arts, notably opera. He loved creating elaborate meals to share with his friends and sampling all that NYC had to offer. The songs of Edith Piaf appealed to him - especially "Non, je ne regrette rien," whose spirit of resilience spoke deeply to Mac. At his home in Fire Island Pines, he was always the life of the party and was active in the community.

Rest in peace, Robert. I hope you found companionship, comfort and satisfaction from your life in Mexico. You were so full of life and fun. I hope that lasted until the very end.

Robert H. McDowall, M.D., died on September 15, 2025, at his home in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. He was 69. Known to friends as Mac (and also as Bob), he was a physician board-certified in both anesthesiology and pediatrics. Born in Akron, Ohio, he earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1982.
