ROBERT EUGENE McGOWAN, JR. "Bob"
On Wednesday, October 1, 2014 of Bowie, MD. Bob is a Vietnam veteran and was an attorney for the Prince George's Public County Defenders Office. Bob is the husband of 30 years to Patricia McGowan; father of Kelley Teets (Bill), Tara Hinkle (Kevin), Meghan and Bobby McGowan; brother of Mary King, Jean Voso, Richard, Raymond and Michael McGowan; grandfather of Jacob and Nathan Hinkle, Jackson and Addison Teets. Family will receive friends at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD on Sunday, October 5, 2014, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, October 6,2014, 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Chapel, 16501 Annapolis Rd. Bowie, MD 20715. If desired/in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins, The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Building, Suite 1100, 401 N. Broadway, Baltimore, MD 21287.

I came to know Bob while I was in the State's Attorneys Office. He was a great guy with a wonderful sense of humour and a pleasure to work with. I am saddened to hear of his recent death and at such a young age too. I know will be missed by many.

Dear family,
God blessed us with Bob's keen smile, laughter and spirit of joy. I felt blessed every time we spoke or shared a mutual concern about our jobs as lawyers.

Bob was a true Prince of this world, of this reality, defender of the less fortunate, patriot and volunteer when it wasn't cool to volunteer, a good friend to so many of us. His passing leaves a void in our lives that will never be filled. I shall miss him for the rest of my life.

Dear Pat and Family-
I was so sorry to hear about Bob' s illness, and now his all too soon passing.
Bob was literally my first friend in law school. I remember like it was yesterday, and how happy he was when you reconnected and began your long life together.
He was almost always cheerful, and his curiosity and diligence is something we all can admire. He will be dearly missed by so many.

Pat and family - My deepest condolences for your loss. I knew Bob as far back as I can remember. We served in Vietnam as the same time and kept in touch while there. His letters were a comfort to me as I hope mine were to him. Bob was a wonderful guy, I feel honored and blessed to have known him.
