Robert Richerson Milam Jr. (Age 94)

Robert Richerson Milam, Jr., "Bob", a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed peacefully, with family by his side, on October 10, 2022. He was born on May 3, 1928 in Jacksonville, Florida, served in the US Army during the Korean War, graduated from University of Florida before moving to New York City to get his MBA at Columbia University and starting his six-decade career as a stock broker and investment advisor. Bob relocated to Washington, DC where he met his beloved wife Sarah at a cocktail party in Georgetown. They were married in Ponte Vedra, Florida in 1970, and then joined the family circus with her four young children in Westmoreland Hills, Bethesda, Maryland. Bob has been focused on family, travel, meeting new people, and tracking the markets ever since. He loved to host regular family gatherings in locations across the country. Bob was an avid golfer and world explorer, starting with an adventurous trip to iron-curtain Russia in 1960, then Cuba and points beyond thereafter. He was in perpetual motion ever since at "Bob speed", be it by boat, plane or his preferred method of travel, the automobile, where he could be seen traveling with windows cracked, radio on and a wry smile on his face, with the destination less important than the journey.



Bob is survived by his five children, Scott Wilson Milam of Arlington, VA, Cynthia Homet McGuinness of Fairfield, CT, Adrienne Homet Hand of Bethesda, MD, Brian Charles Homet of Herndon, VA and Jennifer Homet Catto of Niwot, CO; 11 grandchildren; his wife of 52 years, Sarah Chappell Milam and his sister, Patricia Milam Sams, of Jacksonville, FL.



A memorial service will be held at the Brookmont Church, 4000 Virginia Place, Bethesda, MD 20816 on Tuesday, October 18 at 1 p.m. Condolences may be shared online at
