ROBERT MOORE Obituary

Robert S. Moore

May 27, 2012

Robert (Bob) Moore lost his final battle, on May 27, 2012, in a war for life that he fought valiantly to win. Even though he lost this battle, it is the victories that he won over the last couple of years that should be an inspiration to those who know and loved him. It was a testimony to the kind of man he was, that each victory that came, gave him more of a reason to endure the pain and health struggles he faced. It is important to understand that these victories were not beating the illnesses, they were in experiencing another Christmas, another Thanksgiving, a granddaughters wedding, grandchildren's graduations, attending a grandson's baseball game, watching grandkids go to college and then come back for a visit, becoming a great grandfather, having a lunch with his son, getting one more hug from a great grandchild. Even in his death he has left a valuable lesson to his family and friends, that no matter how hard the challenge each moment is a treasure and a victory worth fighting to win.

Bob was born, October 11, 1936, to Sheldon and Alice Moore in Southington, Connecticut, where he grew up and worked on the family apple and peach orchard. He had a younger brother, Raymond, who preceded him in death. A short time after the family orchard was sold he followed his parents to Fort Myers, with his first wife, Linda Kysor Fore and son David; this was in October of 1961. Most of his career was spent as a Master Plumber where he worked on many projects throughout Southwest Florida, including the SW Regional Hospital, Lani Kai, and Riverdale High School. He graduated from Southington High School, briefly attended the University of Connecticut, was a Lieutenant in the National Guard, was a member of the Elks, and a Mason and member of Tropical Lodge #56.

Of all he accomplished the biggest joy in his life was his family, and even when it became the blending of two families, from the time the families joined they were his family and his kids. He rejoiced in their joys, grieved with their sorrows, and provided support in their struggles, loving each one unconditionally as his own.

The legacy he leaves behind includes his wife of 31 years, Anetta Sparks Moore, children; David S. Moore (Sandy), Lisa Moore Dodd (Curtis), Debra Sparks (Lori), Denise Wiener (Dave), Dina Sparks Hatt (John), Daniel Sparks (Delisa); twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made in his memory to either, Hope Hospice, Cape Coral or the Tropical Lodge #56 scholarship fund.

A memorial service will be held at 10am, June 22, 2012 at the Tice United Methodist Church.
