Not sure what to say?

Bob was a very engaged and engaging scholar and administrator. He was so helpful to us in forming the Indiana German Heritage Society and fostering research in ethnic studies in Indiana when he was at the Indiana Historical Society. We shall remember him.

Single Memorial Tree

Dear Ms. O´Neill and family,Bob was a wonderful and generous colleague. I enjoyed his wit, his stories, and his capacious knowledge on a breadth of topics. He was a consummate professional and, at the same time, salt of the earth. He will be missed. May memories of Bob warm the days ahead. Peace, Filippa Marullo Anzalone, BC Law School

Thank you for your unselfish military service to the people of this nation. May you now rest in peace.

A great friend to a visiting Burns scholar Paul BEW

Helen and children, I am so sorry to learn of Bob's passing. I worked for him at the Indiana Historical Society and he was a great director. He joined staff for Halloween dress up and April Fool's pranks. Loved visiting him in Massachusetts and Arizona. He was a great friend and wonderful smile for all. I'll miss him. Susan Darnell

Very sad to hear of Bob's death. He was a student of mine and also a friend. I remember visiting him at the BC library several times. Requiescat in Pace, Bernard McGinn (emeritus professor U of C)

While many people may speak of Bob in terms of his intellect and skill in guiding special libraries, my first thought was of his kindness and ready smile. May his loved ones find peace and comfort during this difficult time. Susan Sutton, Indiana Historical Society

Helen, sorry for your loss. Sending our condolences, Linda and Carl Gagnon.
