Bob was a Kentucky education hero. As a reporter who covered the topic in the '80s, I watched him worked tirelessly to improve Kentucky schools, and he always was willing to help a reporter see more clearly through the fog. He helped with humor and grace. His legacy is large. My deep sympathy to the people of Kentucky and to his family for their loss.

I am so sorry for the loss to your family, but also to our great commonwealth. I did not know Bob personally, but did have a lot of first-hand experience with education reform. I ran a Family Resource Center under the first round of grants and saw the profound need and amazing benefits. This is one of the best changes in Kentucky in my lifetime. We should all be forever grateful, and we should all follow his example and do our best to serve others and our community.

Mr. Sexton was a great person. I remember being in the CIPL class of 2002 and he was one of our speakers..his words were so inspirational that they still are with me today! My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. God Bless!

In our roles at the Kentucky Education Association and the Department of Education, each of us had the opportunity to work with Bob on different projects. He always had a way of making sense of issues and was willing to discuss those which were important to us to help clarify and figure out the best course of action. Bobby and I were childhood friends in St. Matthews, in the Springlee neighborhood across Browns Lane from where Waggener High School would later be. We did what kids did in the late '40s and early '50s. Very few people had TV's and those that did watched a test pattern until 5 or 6 o'clock followed by Kukla, Fran and Ollie and maybe Howdy Doody some time later. Football in the yard in the fall; baseball in the street in the spring. Snowball fights in the winter. Board games, chess tournaments...

I didn't know Bobby as an educator, just as our cousin who came to be very dear to me in the time I was privileged to know him. He always had a smile on his face when here in Wyoming, and usually a fishing pole in his hand. I always looked forward to your visits, and he will be greatly missed by his WY cousins, John and I.
