I've know Bob Swaney for well over 50 years and in my experience he was one of the finest citizens this town has ever produced. He was extraordinarily humble yet he applied his broad natural intelligence and unrivaled work ethic in service to the people and animals of Old Lyme all his life. For those who knew and worked with him he set a very high standard of personal decency and integrity that will be hard to forget.

Bob was such a good friend to our family and especially my dad. When times were very lean for us my dad would have a tear in his eye when he saw that without asking Bob would have dropped off a load of wood so that we could stay warm. I hope they are enjoying their reunion in heaven and tinkering away together again.

I am very saddened to learn of Bobby Swaney's death. I met him when I first moved to Old Lyme Shores some fifty plus years ago. He was knowledgeable about the workings of the town and its beaches. Upon his retirement, he became a businessman on whom one could depend. My condolences to his wife Terry and his son David. Alice Burbank
