Robert Thimmes Obituary
FT. LAUDERDALE, FL: Robert W. Thimmes passed away on Monday, August 12, 2013 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where he had resided since 2007. He was born in Lancaster, Ohio August 14, 1918 and previously lived in Leesburg, Florida.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Edna E. Thimmes (deceased 1998), his sisters, Genevieve Brasseur and Mae Black and his grandson, Ronald Allen Lane.
He is survived by his daughters, Emily (Richard) Lane, Judith (Richard) Shields, Joy (Ken) Brooks and Nancy (Jeff) Hall; and his son, Robert W. (Karyn) Thimmes II. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was loved and will be sorely missed by his entire family and all that knew him.
During his long and active life he enjoyed golf, billiards, bowling and most of all music and dancing. He will be remembered as "Bingo Bob" to many who enjoyed his fun loving Bingo games at Brittany Estates. He and his wife were wonderful dancers and later he enjoyed being the DJ at Homewood Estates where he would sit in the lobby and play his extensive music collection for all to enjoy.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Ohio.
Donations may be made to Hospice by the Sea-Donations, 1531 West Palmetto Park Rd., Boca Raton, FL 33486, WWW.HBTS.org., specify in memory of Robert W. Thimmes with acknowledgment to Emily T. Lane.

My sympathy to: emily, joy, judy, nancy, bob jr. I always enjoyed his company and his friendly grace when our families were young and later at weddings of denise, kevin, andy. I know you all will miss him. May your loss be eased by memories.
