I just learned of Dean Thornburg's passing. He was a wonderful man who generously shared his wisdom and wit with so many students and friends, including myself.
I was so happy to have visited with him the last time I visited Boston.

I knew "Dean T" while I was a student @ MIT in the late 80s/early 90s. Marsh Chapel and that big white house in Brookline became homes away from home for this TX gal. Of special memory is Thanksgiving dinners. He cooked a mean meal :-) and always made all of us who were far away from our families feel welcome and at home (and I still think of him each Thanksgiving as my timing is often off and I remember his spreadsheet and smile :-).
