Robert TILSON Obituary
He was a native of Flag Pond, Tenn., and a resident of the Peninsula for 48 years. Robert retired as a welder from Newport News Shipbuilding & Drydock after 35 years of service. He served honorably with the U.S. Army and was a WWII veteran.
Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Alma Louise Tilson.
He is survived by his sons, Robert C. Tilson Jr. and wife, Shirley, and Ricky L. Tilson and wife, Patricia, both of Newport News; daughter, Regina M. Breedlove and husband, Roger, of Newport News; grandchildren, Dawn Rhoades, April, Heather and Ian Tilson, and Amy and Eric Breedlove; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Brianna and Madison Rhoades, and Juliet and Julies Tilson; brother and best friend, D. Ralph Tilson of Newport News; and sister, Viola Tilson of Erwin, Tenn.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 8, 2011, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Robert's life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 9, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 11835 Canon Blvd, Suite 102-A, Newport News, VA 23606.

Gina, My days sitting next to you will not be the same without hearing you on the phone with your Dad and then hanging up only to say "oh I could just pinch him". His phone calls with you I will truly miss. You are all in my thoughts and my prayers.

Gina very sorry to hear of your fathers passing. I remember the fun times hanging out at your house and him always giving us a hard time. He will be greatly missed by many. Love to you and your family. Thank you for letting me be a part of his life.

Gina I am so sorry to hear about your dad. I can remember being at your house with your mom making fritter cakes and your dad playing us music on his guitar. I have a lot of great memories of your dad and will miss him.
