Lorne and Sons Funeral Home - Delray Beach Obituary

Bob Vollrath, 59, passed away suddenly at his Ocean Ridge home Friday evening. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Verona and Herbert Vollrath. He will be missed by his wife Terry Plageman Vollrath; sons Robert, Michael (wife Shannon), John, and sister Kathy Vollrath Shockley. Bob was a wonderful son-in-law to Frank and Peggy Plageman, brother-in-law, friend and uncle to 11 nieces and nephews.

Bob was an avid golfer, sailor, and angler. He loved to travel and had just returned with Terry from a month long vacation in Europe celebrating Bob's retirement . While retired, he still kept involved in many projects with close friends. He loved going on his boat trips to the Bahamas, listening to Kenny G, cheering for the Miami Dolphins, and sipping on decaf Dunkin Donuts coffee with Terry on the patio. Nothing gave him greater pleasure than hosting celebrations of all kinds in his home, being surrounded by family and friends. He will always be remembered for living life to the fullest with the ones he loved the most.

Friends may call on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Lorne and Sons Funeral Home, 745 NE 6th Ave. (North Federal Highway), Delray Beach, FL.  A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran, 400 North Swinton Ave, Delray Beach, FL.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Reynold's Race to Run, his Journey for SDR Surgery by clicking here to donate.

Not sure what to say?

Remembering you today and always. I am the person that I am today because of the great person that you were.

Always thinking of you. You were an incredible boss. Everything I know I thank you for.

You're always remembered. You taught me many work ethics that I've taken with me to every job and or company I worked for. You were an amazing boss/ friend.

Remembering you today Bob. You were an amazing boss, person and mentor. I will always remember how much I learned from you. I am the employee I am today thanks to you!

Indubitably, a Prince among Men. May infinite love, grace and light guide your way onward. Your beautiful spirit and noble heart have been a brilliant sun for all those whose lives you have touched with you presence.

My deepest condolences to all the family.

From all of us at the office of Dr Marc Bilodeau, we are terribly sorry to hear of the passing of your loved one. Our deepest sympathy to you Terry and your entire family.

My husband and I spent the most perfect July 4 with Terry and Bob. We shared our memories of our (separate) travels in Italy, laughed about current political news stories, and made plans to fly fish together in the beautiful mountains of NC. We were just beginning a great friendship with them both. We are so sorry for your loss, Terry and family, but we are just over the hedge if you need anything. And Terry, we hope to build our friendship with you and your family - and to honor Bob's...

I met Bob 33 years ago when he hired me at Senior Corp, I was honored 4 years later when he asked me to work for him again at Sunrise S&L. He was honest, smart, hard-working, the best boss I ever had. I respected him, and learned much-he had integrity. I was honored to have worked for him twice. To Bob: rest in peace, you were one in a million, and taken far too soon. To Terry and family: Words are not nearly enough, my deepest sympathy goes out to you, he was truly a very special...

My deepest condolences to you and your family. Bob was one of the nicest people that I have ever met. He will be truly missed.

Bob and I did not communicate often, but it was very comforting to know that I could reach out to him for advice. I will always remember him as one of a kind.

Always remember you can talk to God through your sorrow and you will find comfort.

Matthew 5:4 says "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted".

May God Bless you.
