Robert VOLLRATH Obituary

VOLLRATH,
Robert K. "Bob"
Robert K. "Bob" Vollrath, 59, passed away suddenly at his Ocean Ridge home Friday evening. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Verona and Herbert Vollrath. He will be missed by his wife Terry Plageman Vollrath; sons Robert, Michael (wife Shannon), John, and sister Kathy Vollrath Shockley. Bob was a wonderful son-in-law to Frank and Peggy Plageman, brother-in-law, friend and uncle to 11 nieces and nephews. Bob was an avid golfer, sailor, and angler. He loved to travel and had just returned with Terry from a month long vacation in Europe celebrating Bob's retirement. While retired, he still kept involved in many projects with close friends. He loved going on his boat trips to the Bahamas, listening to Kenny G, cheering for the Miami Dolphins, and sipping on decaf Dunkin' Donuts coffee with Terry on the patio. Nothing gave him greater pleasure than hosting celebrations of all kinds in his home, being surrounded by family and friends. He will always be remembered for living life to the fullest with the ones he loved the most. Friends may call on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM and 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the Lorne and Sons Funeral Home, 745 NE 6th Ave. (North Federal Highway), Delray Beach, FL. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 10:00AM at Trinity Lutheran, 400 North Swinton Ave, Delray Beach, FL. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Reynold's Race to Run, his Journey for SDR Surgery, www.youcaring.com/reynold-hemmis-iv-383873#.vzsgxxfvbgj Lorne and Sons Funeral Home, Delray Beach, FL in charge of arrangements. www.LorneandSons.com

My husband and I spent the most perfect July 4 with Terry and Bob. We shared our memories of our (separate) travels in Italy, laughed about current political news stories, and made plans to fly fish together in the beautiful mountains of NC. We were just beginning a great friendship with them both. We are so sorry for your loss, Terry and family, but we are just over the hedge if you need anything. And Terry, we hope to build our friendship with you and your family - and to honor Bob's exuberant spirit and his love for you. Tonja, Martin and Tucker

I met Bob 33 years ago when he hired me at Senior Corp, I was honored 4 years later when he asked me to work for him again at Sunrise S&L. He was honest, smart, hard-working, the best boss I ever had. I respected him, and learned much-he had integrity. I was honored to have worked for him twice. To Bob: rest in peace, you were one in a million, and taken far too soon. To Terry and family: Words are not nearly enough, my deepest sympathy goes out to you, he was truly a very special individual, and I will never forget him.

My deepest condolences to you and your family. Bob was one of the nicest people that I have ever met. He will be truly missed.

Bob and I did not communicate often, but it was very comforting to know that I could reach out to him for advice. I will always remember him as one of a kind.

Always remember you can talk to God through your sorrow and you will find comfort.

Matthew 5:4 says "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted".

May God Bless you.

As a 45 year friend of Bob's wife, Terry, and after having seen her only the night before Bob passed, and seeing her glow while telling of her and Bob's recent trip to Europe, my heart is broken for her and the kids. Rest in Peace, Bob.

Bob was a fantastic leader, mentor and friend with whom I had the pleasure of working for. He taught me quite a bit that I still use today and will be forever grateful. We managed to stay in contact and even bumped into each other a few years ago at a Dolphin's game. Great guy! To the Vollrath family - please accept our sympathy! He will be missed, but not forgotten.

Bob was a great boss and leader and I will never forget the opportunity he gave me. He provided personal and professional guidance that I always valued. He is certainly gone too soon, but I know it is not without leaving a positive impact on many people including myself. My deepest sympathy to his family.

I first met Bob in 8th grade. Our last names were close alphabetically so we often sat near each other. We had more classes together @ HML and had nicknames for each other. I'm sorry I never got to know him as an adult or keep in touch. It is very sad that he did not get to enjoy retirement. My condolences to his family.

Bob was an incredible man. We met in Plantation Key @ Summer Seas... He had a huge heart and a great family. We fished a lot together and laughed even more. Bob was a complete class-act and always extremely generous and kind to others. I still talk about the trip he setup for us on a beautiful 55 Ocean sportfish out of Key West. We fished the Tortugas & Marquesas and made memories of a lifetime. He will surely be missed and always remembered. Big Love to the family, my condolences...Love, David T. Tuthill
