Bert, we miss you in Glenwood Park! Each time I drive by your house I think of you and your lovely personality, and the good times we shared throughout the years! May your soul continue to rest in peace in the arms of the Lord.

She was such a lovely and caring person. She and her husband Dr. Wise lived in the community called Carsondale. Ironically the community was a gift from Dr. Richard Carson, a black doctor to black Americans who served in the military. Mrs. Wise was our French teacher at Lincoln Elementary School. She was very patient with us; and some of the sentences she taught us in French I still retain to this day, some fifty years later.

May she Rest In Peace; such an unforgettable person!

I will always remember Mrs. Wise. When I was about 14, I was trying to raise money for my Jr. Debutante Club. I went to her door to speak with her. She pointed at her "No Soliciting" sign and asked me if I knew what it meant. I told her "no". She said it meant do not come to her door to sell anything or ask for money. I told her I was sorry and she said, "Don't worry, I'll purchase an ad because I know your mother". I learned a new vocabulary word that day. Mrs. Wise was always...
