She was such a lovely and caring person. She and her husband Dr. Wise lived in the community called Carsondale. Ironically the community was a gift from Dr. Richard Carson, a black doctor to black Americans who served in the military. Mrs. Wise was our French teacher at Lincoln Elementary School. She was very patient with us; and some of the sentences she taught us in French I still retain to this day, some fifty years later.
May she Rest In Peace; such an unforgettable person!

I will always remember Mrs. Wise. When I was about 14, I was trying to raise money for my Jr. Debutante Club. I went to her door to speak with her. She pointed at her "No Soliciting" sign and asked me if I knew what it meant. I told her "no". She said it meant do not come to her door to sell anything or ask for money. I told her I was sorry and she said, "Don't worry, I'll purchase an ad because I know your mother". I learned a new vocabulary word that day. Mrs. Wise was always friendly and smiling whenever she drove her car around Glenwood Park. I am so glad I grew up knowing such a fine lady.

To the loving family of "Bert" Wise:
.
On behalf of Glenwood Park Subdivision in Lanham, MD, and myself as a 47-year neighbor and friend of Bert Wise, it is incumbent upon me to render special condolences to Bert's family to further testify that Bert was a loving, kind, and witty individual and neighbor, and a proud resident of Prince George's County, MD for well over 60 years!
Bert was indeed a devoted family person, a loyal Redskins fan, and an involved civic-minded, service-oriented person who loved life and reaching back to help the greater community at large.
She will surely be missed by all who knew and loved her as a caring and wonderful human being. May God comfort her loved ones and many friends during these mournful days and in the future during her absence from the world.
Everlasting loving memories of you from your neighbor, friend, and Link sister,

CELEBRATING THE LIFE AND LEGAACY
Of
ROBERTA VIRGINIA WISE
The Lord has promised to turn our Mourning into joyJeremiah 31:13.
He has also promised to be close to all who call on Him. Psalm 115:18.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you mourn the passing and celebrate the remarkable life of a Loving Mother and a Grand Lady. When I met her a few years ago it was as if we had known each other for years. No matter the time, age circumstance when we lose Mother, its as thought we have lost part of ourselves. I know she was not only Mom, but a Best Friend, Mothers are with us forever first in lifetime then forever in our memories.
May hearts be lifted knowing that her love for the Lord was relentless and she would tell us When you hear of my Home going; dont WORRY ABOUT ME, IAM JUST ANOTHER SOLDIER GOING HOME TO BE WITH THE LORD.
So, gather all the best of a good life into the pages of loving memories, to be held in the heart forever. We will continue to Pray God's love will comfort your soul and bring you peace at this most difficult time.

A wonderful, caring, genuine woman & loving mother. Bert was a very special lady in my life, so much so that I affectionately called her Mom #2. She was a force to be reckoned with.
