Roderic Schmidt

Rick was a true Cabrillo High School icon. Teacher, coach, and mentor to hundreds, he approached all situations with consideration and passion. As a rookie teacher, I always appreciated Rick's suggestions and advice...and considerable sense of humor. My condolences to the family. Rick will be remembered fondly, and as others have stated, he is a true legacy to his craft. "Now cracks a noble heart. Good night, sweet prince, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest."

Just happened to visit the Lompoc Record web page and saw this. Very sad news for me. Mr. Schmidt was probably my favorite teacher at Cabrillo, as I was fortunate enough to be on the school´s radio station, Radio of Cabrillo. He will never be forgotten.

My son and I send our condolences He was a great teacher. And coach we respected his. Intelligence sad bd his unique and special personality I. Also appreciated his writing talent there are some people that you tend to think will live forever. He was such a person my best to his family

Mr. Schmidt was the most wonderful teacher to me. His sense of humor and intelligence and ability to connect with his students was unique. He made me want to do my best. That is a gift. Heaven got one cool human. May God bless your family. XO

You are in my prayers. I worked with Rick for a few decades and had your children in class. Rick was a very well liked and respected educator and mentor.
