News Death Notice

HUEMMER, Rodericke G. 81, of Miamisburg, Ohio passed away, July 16, 2015. He was a graduate of Dayton Cooperative High School and attended the University of Dayton. Rod retired from, NCR, General Motors, Inland Division (Delphi), and Sinclair Community College. He was a member of Friends of AIM and a volunteer with election/voting. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Margaret and Jay W. Hanes, Mother Gladys Hanes, Sister Joyce Zieman, and Daughter Kathy G. Huemmer. Rod is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gay Huemmer: sons; Rick (Beth) Huemmer of Knoxville, TN, and Jeff (Karen) Huemmer of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren: Jessi, Katie, Justin, and Makayla, great grandchildren: Lily and Kaleigh; brother-in-law: Don (Pat) Thuma; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5471 Far Hills Ave. at Rahn Rd, Tuesday, July 21, 2015, from 12 noon until time of Memorial Service at 1 pm. Pastor Tim Parker from CrossPoint Church in Knoxville, TN officiating. If desired, memorial contributions in Rod's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, Southwest Regional Office, 2802 Reading Rd. Cincinnati, OH 45206 or Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave. Dayton, OH 45420. Rod considered his greatest accomplishment to be his family. He dearly loved his wife and was proud of his sons. His grandchildren and great-granddaughters brought him so much happiness. He was above all else a family man. He worked for many years as a model maker at NCR and GM and taught in the Industrial Engineering Department at Sinclair. His hobbies included golfing, playing bridge, and traveling. He enjoyed spending time in Siesta Key, Florida, in the winter and traveled to many places around the world with his wife Gay. He also loved to visit with family in Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky, Georgia, and California-whether in person, on Facebook, or on the telephone. Rod had many life-long friends. Although our paths never crossed, I do feel a connection to you through your son, Jeff. You did an incredible job of raising a son who was very proud of his father.
