ARCANUM -- Rodger W. Hoop, 75 of Arcanum, Ohio, passed away on Monday September 1, 2025, at 5:23 PM at Miami Valley Hospital. Dayton, Ohio. Rodger was born October 9, 1949, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of the late William "Bill" and Mildred (Roberts) Hoop.
Rodger was a graduate of Twin Valley South High School; he served his country in the United States Army; and worked in construction and as a backhoe operator. He was a member of the American Legion, he was a giving man who enjoyed the outdoors, mowing his yard, he loved his truck and most of all he loved spending time with his family.
Rodger is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Bill, Dave, and Timothy Hoop; his brother-in-law, Dave Mallory; and his son in law, Jason Curry.
Rodger is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pam (Cole) Hoop of Arcanum, whom he married March 11, 1972; his children, Bryan Hoop, Jason Hoop, and Sherry Curry; his grandchildren, Josh, Jenna, and Lucas Hoop, Jacob (Sydni) Curry, Cameron (Hailey) Curry, Brycelyn, and Savannah Hoop, Jayston Hoop; his great grandchildren, Weston Curry, Vivian Stambaugh and Lennox Sanders; his siblings, Lisa Mallory of Arizona, Chris and Dave Jackson of Troy; his sisters in law, Carol Hoop of Greenville, and Jill Hoop of New Lebanon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Monday September 8, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Tony Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in Newcomer Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home. Veterans' services will be conducted by the Greenville Veteran's Honor Guard.
