Ronald Koehler Obituary

Ronald Dean Koehler
1937-2021
Ronald Dean Koehler passed away suddenly on September 18. He was born September 11, 1937, in Platteville, Colorado.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents Dean and Leona Koehler of Platteville. He is survived by one brother, Harlan and wife Christine of Lexington, Kentucky; one sister, Debra and husband Stan Smith of Pahoa, Hawaii. He is also survived by his beloved wife, Audrey, a son Michael and wife Windy and a daughter Karen Shively and husband Don and grandchildren Emily Koehler, Austin Koehler, Heidi Koehler, and Audrey Claire Koehler, Dallas, TX, Savannah Shively and John Paul Shively, Singapore, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Ron graduated from Platteville High School, Platteville, CO and from Colorado School of Mines with a degree in Geophysical Engineering. He fulfilled his active duty with the US Army Corps of Engineers at Fort Carson, Colorado Springs, and immediately began his career with Geophysical Service Inc., a division of Texas Instruments, in Dallas, Texas. He re-located to New Orleans, Denver and Midland. He then worked as Senior Geophysicist at Sohio Oil and British Petroleum before retiring and becoming a consultant with Shell Oil and various other oil companies. He was a member of Society of Exploration Geophysicists and Beta Theta Pi fraternity.
Ron loved spending time with Audrey in the Hill Country of Texas where they had a home in Spicewood, Texas, enjoying the lake and boating on Lake Travis with their children and grandchildren. Sitting on the patio, talking to family and viewing the beautiful lake gave him joy and peace. Ron was most happy when he was with spending time with family. Family time was Ron's treasured time.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 23, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Martin's Episcopal Church with The Rev. Martin J Bastian and The Rev. Desmond Goonesekera officiating. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family in Bagby Hall. A visitation will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, September 22, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. For further information, please visit the Memorial Oaks website.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Memorial Hermann for their excellent care and support during this time. We also wish to thank those in the community who have continued to pray and support us during this last week. He will be greatly missed by his family, but we are comforted to know that he is now in God's presence.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Colorado School of Mines Foundation, P.O. Box 4005, Golden, Colorado 80402-4005.
