Ronald Rohrbaugh Obituary

Ronald L. Rohrbaugh
York
Ronald L. "George" Rohrbaugh, 82, entered into rest on Friday August 11, 2017 at his residence at 9 a.m. peacefully surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Anne (MacDonald) Rohrbaugh with whom he celebrated 57 years of marriage on April 20, 2017.
He was born October 15, 1934 in York. The son of the late Lester E. Rohrbaugh, Ada (Sipe) Rohrbaugh and step mother, Florence Rohrbaugh.
He is survived by six children, Robert Rohrbaugh, Wayne Rohrbaugh, Stephen Rohrbaugh, James Rohrbaugh, Rhonda Einsig ( P. Daniel), Michelle Bahn (Glen), all of York; 14 grandchildren, Robert ll, Danielle Goldberg (who was born in the back of Pap's car), Joshua, Jessica Mann, Scott, Amanda Spalla, Kayla, Ashlee Ilyes, Shaylee Beck, Erin, Alexis, Tanner, Michael Bahn, and Matthew Bahn; 10 great-grandchildren and the eleventh on the way. There are many people in his travels who became "adopted" members of the family. He was preceded in death by a brother, Luther; and sisters, Mary Lou Pardo Rudisill and Jean Smith.
Ron was a U.S. Navy veteran with 20 years of service. He later worked for BAE Systems and retired after 20 years of service in 1996. He also worked at the Lincoln Highway Garage before and after the Navy and after he retired from BAE Systems and helped to close the garage.
Ron bowled on several leagues, loved playing cards and board games, going to a casino ranked high on his fun things to do alone or with others. He enjoyed going to Hershey Bears and York Revolutions games. And most recently he found so much joy being a volunteer at Spring Grove Elementary School in the classroom of his granddaughter and favorite person, Jessica Mann, and at the Smart Store. He also could be found building, repairing at home or one of his children or grandchildren's homes and generally helping out anyone who needed his assistance.
Ron went for coffee and donuts or breakfast most days and made many friends at Bob Evan's, Maple Donuts and West Manchester Diner.
The viewing will be 9-11 a.m. Friday August 18, 2017 at the John W. Keffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 902 Mt. Rose Ave. York. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Barbara A. Barry officiating. Burial will follow in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military rites by the York County Veteran Honor Guard. Ron was a pocket tee shirt and jeans (which he called dungarees) kind of guy and he has requested that attire for those attending his funeral wear some type of casual clothes.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Hospice and Community Care 685 Good Drive PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125 or to a charity of your choice in Ron's name.
The family would like to thank Hospice and Community Care, the therapists at Manor Care North, and the nurses and doctors on the fifth floor of Wellspan York Hospital and White Rose Ambulance.

I love you Pap! I miss you so much already but I know you are no longer in pain, and that gives me some comfort. I will do everything possible to make you proud... I will go back to school and teach and use lots of tape and I won't pick my lip and I will go to the casino and eat carrots with ranch and take care of your buddy and the list goes on.... I know you will be watching over me from above. I love you so much!
