Ronald SOFIE

1932 - 2021

Ron passed away at age 89 on Friday, November 26, 2021 after a brief illness. He was born on the East Side of St. Paul on April 29, 1932. He graduated from Johnson High School in 1952. Ron was a 42 year employee of Hamms/Stroh brewery retiring in 1994. He then went on to work at Hill-Murray High School for over 10 years before retiring for good and was a longtime member of the Pioneer Foundation for the Performing Arts. Ron lived on the East Side for 85 years until moving slightly NW to Little Canada in 2017. He loved his family, food, playing cribbage and 500, being Italian, cheering on the Twins, Vikings and Hill-Murray hockey. He also loved fun, bad jokes, laughing, dancing and country music. Preceded in death by parents, August and Rose (Barbato) Sofie; brothers, George and August; sisters, Marie Pelton and Gloria Johnson; and first wife, Gloria (Klein) Sofie. Survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Kathy (Hogan); children, Greg (Renee), Ron, Lori (Nick) Carver, Jack (Sara) and Tony; five grandchildren and 5 great-grand children along with many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Memorial service will be Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 2:00 PM, visitation beginning at 1:00 PM at Wulff Funeral Home.
