We were roommates at Princeton for awhile. I had the good fortune of enjoying the warmth of his family in Trenton during a Thanksgiving break, since I was unable to return to my home. Many years later, after he had gone west and I had gone to live on the other side of the Atlantic, we found each other. He had lost none of his warmth, generosity and quiet humanity. An unassuming but nevertheless extraordinary man. We are all poorer for losing him.

It is absolutely amazing the depth that a person such as Ron can have, yet that may go unnoticed or undetected when one is too young to understand. I am very sorry to hear of Ron's passing. I knew him in high school and in boy scouts. An interesting story that I will always remember occurred on boy scouts athletic night. Boxing was one of the activities and somehow mild mannered, quiet Ron was picked or volunteered to fight another scout. I don't know if it was anger or fear that propelled Ron to fight like a crazy person but they had to pull him off of the other scout. His adversary did not have a chance. Everyone was shocked and...
