Rosemary B. Gros

June 10, 1941 - June 6, 2025

Wichita, Kansas - Rosemary "Rose" B. Gros, 83, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on June 6, 2025, at South Wind Home in Pratt, Kansas. She was born June 10, 1941, in Colwich, Kansas, to Lawrence and Teresa (Lies) Spexarth. She graduated from Andale High School, Andale, Kansas, in 1959 and from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing, Wichita, Kansas, in 1962. Rose married her high-school sweetheart Ronald J. Gros on July 18, 1964, in Colwich, Kansas. They were married for 43 years before his passing on December 8, 2007.

Rose's priority was being with and enjoying her family. She had 5 siblings that were always a part of her life. She never missed a gathering to celebrate holidays, birthdays, and other events. She found great joy in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She made each one of them feel special and valued. She made it a priority and loved being involved in their school activities and lives. She enjoyed going to K-State Football games which largely turned out to be a get-together of the family. Rose enjoyed lake time, particularly the annual week-long family vacation at Table Rock Lake. She loved playing pitch and spending time with her friends. Rose's chosen profession was nursing which she practiced for over 40 years. Her nurturing and caring qualities worked well in her profession.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Ronald; her parents, Lawrence and Teresa Spexarth; her brother, Lawrence "Butch" J. Spexarth, Jr.; and her sister, Rita Winter.

She is survived by: her son, Brady (Sandy) Gros of La Crosse, Kansas; her son, Mark (Tracey) of Manhattan, Kansas; her daughter, Julie (Lorin) Haas of Pratt, Kansas; her grandchildren, Tiffany (Dustin) Dreher, Nicholas Rouse, Corey Gros, Tiffany (Robert) Trapp, Rachael (Peter) Marston, Taylor (Jacob) Vandervoort, Dylan Gros, Carson Gros, Magdalen Haas, Jenna Haas, and Ryan Haas; her 10 great-grandchildren; along with her siblings, John (Ruth) Spexarth, Bill (Jolene) Spexarth, and Virginia Gutschenritter.

Public Viewing will be held from 2:00 PM ~ 5:00 PM on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 12, 2025; Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM on Friday, June 13, 2025, both at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 645 North 119th Street West, Wichita, Kansas 67235. Interment will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Wichita.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Rose's name has been established with: Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 332 North Oak Street, Pratt, Kansas 67124, for the church's renovation project.
