Roslyn Cherrie Royal Singleton (Roz), was born on January 16, 1983, in Camden, South Carolina to Ms. Tracey L. Nathaniel. Roz was raised by the late Rev. Carol Royal and Deacon George Royal, Sr. as their beautiful daughter. Roslyn graduated from Lugoff-Eligin High School in Lugoff, South Carolina in 2001. Roslyn was a very competitive athlete in high school, playing basketball and on the co-ed softball team. Roz was a sporty, athletic girl who also liked to watch Snapped on Oxygen.
Roslyn was a U.S. Navy veteran who spent several years abroad before moving to Charlotte, North Carolina. She served eight years as a Navy yeoman. She was an executive administrative assistant in Iraq, where she completed two tours. Through multiple deployments and work up cycles, she was never without a huge smile on her face. She also worked in Afghanistan as a civilian contractor for the U.S. Department of Defense.
Roslyn married her soulmate, the one who God sent to her, Ray Singleton, Jr., on November 4, 2018. Roz and Ray settled in Charlotte and began an extraordinary life together. Roz also had a passion for dressing other people. She worked as a stylist and in 2020 launched a clothing brand, “Eleven-Oh-Four” with her husband, named after their wedding date and dedicated to their love.
Roslyn spent her childhood in the Greater Faith and Joy Tabernacle Church under Rev. Ronald Williams and later became a member of First Calvary Baptist Church in Rock Hill SC, under the pastorate of Rev. William H. Buie, Jr. Roz loved the Lord and believed deeply in our savior Jesus the Christ.
Roslyn fought a 12 year battle against brain cancer and was a living and loving miracle woman! Roz’ courageous and successful public battle against cancer inspired millions around the world. Roz and Ray became the face of Black Love for so many as they inspired television audiences on the Ellen Show, America’s Got Talent and the BET series Black Love.
Roslyn enjoyed her life to the fullest while rockin a bright smile and no surrender attitude that helped countless others face their own health and emotional challenges. She showed the world how find happiness and purpose in difficult situations. She shared her life and her love with the young and the old, she loved children and they loved her!

Royal, Johnny P. Lucas (Cherrie), Ronald Lucas (Mae), Aunties; Mary O’Brien (Teddy), Deloris Tillman, Jeanette Dawkins, Vivian Holland (Rev. Albert), Thelma Lucas, Mary E. Greer, and Rev. Rossilind Daniels (Deacon Ladine), Lauretta Lucas, Stephanie Singleton Cuthbertson (Vincent). A host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins; and special friends: Bucci Hickman, Jessica Reeder, Shakeia Kelly, Dr. KaNisha Hall, neighbors; Jen, George, Stephanie and Lolo and a special cousin Dee-Dee Tillman.
