Roxy Moschetti Obituary

Roxy Nick Moschetti, 84, passed away on June 11th, peacefully in his home with his loving wife, Illona Boggs Moschetti, by his side. Roxy, the eldest child of Rocco and Elizabeth Moschetti, was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado, and was a proud lifetime Boulder resident. A Boulder High School alum, Roxy started working at a young age with his dad hauling lumber, and then formally started working at Boulder Lumber in 1961. In 1982 he became the general manager of Boulder Lumber, after working his way up from delivery, to sales, and into management. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to purchase a Dairy Queen franchise from 1989 to 1991, which he ran with his wife Illona. This would often leave Roxy working long days and nights and they decidedly sold the franchise so they could focus on their family. Roxy was proud of the work he did at Boulder Lumber and with the people who worked there. He retired in 2004, and after a long career, was honored to receive both a signed congratulatory retirement letter from John Elway of the Denver Broncos, and a designated day named after him to mark his retirement in Boulder's history. These accomplishments exemplified his dedication to his work and the Boulder community. After his retirement, in 2006, Roxy helped rebuild the former Jones Drug and Camera to Jones General Store, with his brother Louie Moschetti. Roxy helped with the operations of Jones General and helped keep the business with 50-year-old roots, thriving for the college student community, until it finally shuttered its doors due to the redevelopment of the University Hill area. In all he did, it was apparent that family was the most important to him. An avid Denver Broncos fan, his family was often invited over to watch Broncos games and the Super Bowl. He loved having a full house with all his loved ones rooting for his favorite team. Roxy is survived by his wife Illona, son Nick, daughters Kelly Murphy, Mary Lantz, and Camelia Naranjo, his brother Louie (Nancy), and sister Clara Roberts (Tito). He has 6 grandsons and 2 granddaughters and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his dad Rocco, mom Elizabeth, sister Nancy Cummings, brother-in-law Brad Cummings, son Michael, son-in-law Samuel Lantz, and grandson Marlow. Roxy will be incredibly missed by all who knew him. A visitation will be held at Crist Mortuary (3395 Penrose Pl, Boulder, CO 80301), on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, from 3pm to 5pm. A rosary service, open to everyone, will be at 4pm. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church (2312 14th St, Boulder, CO 80304) In his honor, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
